PathStone’s Al Hartsig is quoted in an article in The Buffalo News Business Today. The article has excellent advice for financing your business with alternatives to banks.
“Al Hartsig, business development officer with the PathStone Enterprise Center in Rochester, cautioned small-business people against applying for loans from multiple institutions at once, a practice that he said can end up hurting their credit score. A better approach, he said, is to “go to the banks and interview them.”

The Enterprise Center is an affiliate corporation of PathStone, a multi-state community development corporation. PathStone has been providing human, social and development services to low-income individuals and communities since 1969. PathStone established the Enterprise Center in 1997, and it became designated as a CDFI in 1998. The Enterprise Center is also designated as a Community Development Entity (CDE) under the New Markets Tax Credit program.
